Hank Bauer

Hank Bauer was a well-respected ballplayer and then Major League coach whose on-field accomplishments had just about nothing to do with Kansas City.  Though Bauer did play for Kansas City teams before and after his big break with the Yankees, it wasn’t until retirement that he put his roots down in Prairie Village, Kansas.  In baseball, Hank Bauer played in numerous World Series games and then won one as the manager of the 1966 Baltimore Orioles.  In the Kansas City area, Bauer owned a liquor store for 11 years and spent his time hunting, fishing, and hosting legends he called friends, like Mickey Mantle.
